Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, has cautioned Market leaders and Taskforce of New Motor Spare Parts Market, Nnewi, against violating COVID-19 protocols established by the state government.
Dr Okpala gave the warning when he received the team in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka.
He noted that the state government had been echoing the need for market heads and other stakeholders to ensure total compliance with the precautionary measures in fighting the pandemic.
The Commissioner frowned at the negligence by market leaders and the taskforce teams in ensuring the laws were enforced.
Dr Okpala warned that failure to comply with the rules could lead to closure of the market.
General Secretary of the Market, Mr Patrick Nwoke, speaking on behalf of the group, assured of strict enforcement of the guidelines by their taskforce.
Mr Nwoke said they had concluded plans for the provision of necessary facilities, and materials needed in the market.
He pledged to take necessary disciplinary action against any person or group of persons that violate the rules.
The market was recently closed down as a result of non-compliance to COVID-19 protocols established by Government, but was re-opened for business with a condition to adhere to stipulated COVID-19 rules.
