
The government of Anambra state has expressed sadness over the death of the former President of the World Igbo Congress, Dr Linus Udorji. Dr Udorji died at the age of 59 after a long battle with prostate cancer in Washington DC, USA.
Governor Willie Obiano in a message to the current WIC president, Professor Anthony Ejiofor, through a release by the Commissioner of Information and Public enlight his death, saying that Anambra state has lost a versatile intellectual, entrepreneur, community mobilize and devotee to the public good.
Gov Willie said that Dr Udorji was young, vibrant and energetic and was passionate about the living standards of the people at home as he was about the affairs of Nigerians in Diaspora.
In his message to the traditional ruler of Ihiala, Igwe Thomas Ikenna Obidiegwu, he advised Ihiala people to take solace in the fact that in as much as the loss is irreplaceable, they should be consoled with the fact that he affected lives deeply and also was active in the social and cultural affairs of his hometown.
He also asked the people to take after Dr Udorji’s footsteps and embrace the values of reconciliation, peace, forgiveness, progress, service above self and solidarity which he was known for.
He also prayed for the repose of his soul and God’s comfort for the family.
