The United Nations (UN) yesterday cancelled all in person meetings for the week following a report that a U.N member Nation reported five cases of Covid-19 among its staff.

General Assembly President Volkan Bozkir had initially sent a letter to the 193 U.N member nations, initially announcing a cancellation of Tuesday meeting following the advice of the UN Medical Unit in order to carry out contact tracing.

Later in the day, UN secretary General, Antonio Guterres recommended the suspension of in -house meetings for the rest of the week to allow for a better understanding of the extent of the exposure and for full contact tracing to be completed.

As of the time of filing this report, no country has been confirmed as the identified case country.
