Anambra State Government pledges continuous support to the Church as Anglican Church in Nigeria Holds 2021 Standing Committee Meeting in Onitsha

The Anglican Church is currently holding its standing committee meeting at All Saint’s Cathedral, Onitsha, Diocese on the Niger, the Province of the Niger, Anambra State.

The meeting which started on February 8 is slated to end on February 12, 2021.

It has its theme as “Costly Commitment: The Imperative in following Jesus Christ “.

In his address, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, welcomed all the Archbishops, Bishops, Clergy, Lay and Women delegates to the standing committee meeting, and also thanked God for being so gracious to them..

Speaking on the theme of the meeting which is, Costly Commitment: The Imperative In Following Jesus Christ, Archbishop Ndukuba said it is aimed at personal commitment in following Christ and doing His will.

The Primate spoke against the communal squabbles and insecurity in parts of the country, and also frowned at the rate of corruption and anarchy in the country.

He urged the federal government to create more jobs for the youths, urging every citizen of Nigeria to exercise their rights in choosing their leaders as another general election comes up in 2023..

The Primate further encouraged ndi Anambra to participate in the forthcoming election billed for November 6, this year.

He also advised everyone to obey all COVID-19 protocols because COVID-19 is real and it kills too.

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, expressed gratitude to God for the privilege of participating in the meeting, stressing that need for everyone to always put on the face masks as life is so precious and must be protected.

The Deputy Governor pledged the State Government’s readiness to always support the Church.

Dignitaries that graced the occasion were Dame Virgy Etiaba, Dr. Peter Obi, Honourable Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, Sir. Dan Chukwudozie among others.
