As the cases of COVID19 in the country continue to rise,
Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has urged Ndi Anambra to always observe Covid-19 preventive protocols of wearing of facemasks, regular hand washing amongst others to prevent the second wave of the pandemic in the state.
The governor, made the appeal while addressing the 326 Ward Transition Committee Councillors of the 21 local government areas of the state at a refreshment course organised by the Ministry of Health.
The course held in collaboration with the Africa Centre for Disease Control aimed to educate them carrying out sensitization campaigns in the various communities.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke, bemoaned the fact that people were no longer observing the Covid-19 protocols, which posed a threat to the wellbeing of Ndi Anambra.
While advising the people not to panic as, he noted that although covid 19 had no approved medication in the country, it could be prevented by observing the necessary protocols.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, posited that the second wave of Covid-19 was predicated on the fact that most people had abandoned safety precautions in the false belief that it was no longer prevalent in the society.
He, however, urged community leaders and their counterparts at market, religious groups, motor parks, and others to emphasize the need for the public to adhere strictly to Covid-19 protocols.
