In honor of the 2023 Civil Service Day, the Anambra State ICT Agency, under the leadership of Managing Director and CEO Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata, CFA, proudly showcased significant advancements in the digital realm, contributing to the overall technological landscape of the state.
The event, held at the Jerome Udorji Secretariat in Awka, served as a platform to acknowledge the dedication and resilience of civil servants, highlighting their crucial role in advancing public service.
Mr. Agbata expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Soludo for envisioning a Smart Mega City and outlined the agency’s commitment to digital transformation in alignment with the Governor’s ambitious goal of positioning Anambra as a technologically-advanced state.
Under the theme, “Digitization of Work Processes in the Public Service: A Gateway to Efficient Resource Utilization and National Development,” Agbata emphasized the transformative potential of integrating technology into public service operations.
He detailed the agency’s digital journey, which commenced with a survey revealing a digital gap. In response, a phased distribution of 200 state-of-the-art computers and laptops was initiated, complemented by ongoing digital literacy training for select civil servants.
Other milestones included the adoption of the second-level domain (2LD.ng) for official state emails (@anambrastate.gov.ng), facilitating seamless communication. The agency also launched the E-ID card on June 2nd, 2023, aimed at strengthening identity management and streamlining recognition.
The introduction of the Anambra Cloud, a robust cloud infrastructure, addressed the critical need for a centralized data repository. Collaborating with the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, the agency initiated an automated budget process for efficiency and transparency.
Agbata highlighted Governor Soludo’s initiatives, such as zero charges on Right-of-Way (RoW) and ongoing efforts towards establishing an Internet Exchange Point, showcasing a commitment to enhancing digital access and fostering high-speed broadband internet connection for all.
Agbata passionately called on civil servants to actively participate in the digital evolution, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts, collaboration, and a shared commitment to drive Anambra State to new heights of technological excellence.
