
Anambra State government has unveiled 10,000 capacity shops ultra modern international market in Isiagu communit, Awka South Local Government Area.
The project, which is Public – Private Partnership (PPP) by Anambra JC Michaels Limited, in partnership with the Keystone Bank, is expected to provide modern facilities.
Speaking at the event, Governor Willie Obiano, revealed that the project was part of his administration 50 years Developmental Plan tagged, “Vision 2070, aimed at making the state a hub for economic activities and social stable society.
Governor Obiano represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, said the state is ready to welcome more investors to the state.
He asserted that his administration has provided enabling environment for all investors, indigenes and non indigenes to thrive in their economic and social activities.
Contributing, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Anambra JC Michaels, Chief Jude Amuzie, represented by Barrister Ikechukwu Ibeto, explained that the project was signed in 2017, adding that when completed, it would have 10,000 modern lockup shops, car parks, schools, banks, administrative buildings, pedestrian crossover, among other facilities.
Also speaking, the traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Ben Emeka, urged the developers and the government to ensure that enough parking space, and other facilities that will ensure orderiness and discipline among traders and customers were provided in the market.
Earlier, the Anambra State Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Chief Uche Okafor, and the Managing Director, Anambra State Investment Promotion Protection Agency, (ANSIPPA), Honourable Jide Ikeakor, informed that the markets would boost economic activities in the South East, stressing the need for understanding among investors and host community for speedy actualisation of the project.
