Bishop Ezeofor Calls For Increased Funding Of Agricultural Sector To Achieve Food Security
The Anglican Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Right Reverend Samuel Ezeofor, has called for increased funding of the Agricultural sector to ensure bumper harvest which according to him will guarantee food security.
He made the call while delivering a sermon at Christ Anglican Church, Achina, the headquarters of Amaiyi Archdeaconry during a special service to mark the Rogation Sunday in the Anglican Communion Worldwide.
Bishop Ezeofor who described Agriculture as the mainstay of the nation’s economy before the advent of oil, urged the Youths to embrace farming to become employers of labour in addition to becoming self-reliant.
He described Rogation Sunday as a period when the Church specially designated for the blessing of farm implements and other materials used by professionals in the discharge of their duties for enhanced yields in addition to promoting professionalism.
The Cleric charged the federal government to create more positive policies and Programmes to check increasing rate of poverty in the country.
Right Reverend Ezeofor, who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, EFAC Nigeria, regretted that many youths are engaging in Idolatry in the name of practicing their rich cultural heritage and charged community Leaders to sensitize the youths on the difference between Culture and paganism.
He further cautioned Christians against acts capable of debasing Christianity, reminding them of the need to be role models and shining examples wherever they are in order to win more souls for Christ.
President of Aguata Diocesan Women’s Ministry, Mrs Chinyere Ezeofor, as well as some Diocesan officials were present at the service which also featured series of prayers for those in leadership positions, the church, Anambra State and the Nigerian Nation.
