The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reassured the public that Nigerian banks are safe, addressing recent false allegations against Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO).
In a statement made available on Tuesday, CBN emphasized its commitment to maintaining financial stability and protecting customer deposits.
Hakama Sidi Ali, acting director of corporate communications at the CBN, in the statement, affirmed the bank’s commitment to the stability of the nation’s financial system.
The bank highlighted ongoing efforts, including stress tests and Early Warning Systems, to identify risks and ensure resilience in the banking sector. CBN also noted its collaborations with international regulatory bodies to uphold global standards.
Hakama Sidi Ali said that the apex bank remains dedicated to fostering a secure banking environment for all Nigerians.
