Christians all over the world have been told that there is no alternative to Biblical Christianity.
The Bishop of Amichi Diocese, Right Reverend Ephraim Ikeakor,stated this while declaring open the third session of the fourth synod of the Anglican Diocese of Amichi.
Bishop Ikeakor while addressing the crowd shortly after inspecting the Guard of Honour by Amichi Battalion Council of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade at the Synod venue, Ebenezer Church, Unubi, Aguata Council Area.
The Bishop noted that there is enormous pressure on Christians all over the world now to abandon the true faith of the church.
Reflecting on the theme of this year’s synod, “Do not be conformed to this world…” Bishop Ikeakor declared that the time to stand up for God and lift up the banner of our Lord Jesus Christ without compromise, without conformity, without lowering the standard of Christianity is now.
He observed that the world is choking the sound of Christian faith, putting pressure on Christianity to lower the standard.
The Bishop asserted that they came to encourage one another through bible teaching, Bible study, discussion groups, interactive sessions, plenary sessions etc that there is no alternative to Biblical Christianity.
In his sermon at the opening service, Reverend Canon ThankGod Agu, speaking on the topic, “Be not conformed to this world: Enoch and Noah examples” said that conformity means going in the direction of the majority.
Canon Agu challenged the synod to embrace the examples of Enoch and Noah who realized there has been a missing link in the mode of life of his ancestors.
He called on the people to make haste to embrace Jesus and live holy lives in the midst of a corrupt and adulterous generation.
The service ended with the Bishop, The Rt. Rev’d. Ephraim Ikeakor blessing the land of Unubi and planting of the synod tree.
