Commercial bus drivers plying Awka/Onitsha old road in Anambra State, under the aegis of Urban Drivers Welfare Association, has carried out peaceful protest to express their grievances against multiple taxation imposed on them by the state government.

According to the drivers, the State Government is forcing them to buy two thousand Naira worth of tickets everyday.

They said the ticket increment comes despite the fact that they have reduced the number of passengers they carry from 14 to 7 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The placard-carrying protesters displayed placards with various inscriptions such as:
7 PERSONS PER BUS; NO MORE TICKET
NO MORE TICKET; NO MORE TICKET
STOP THE OBNOXIOUS TICKETS, et al.
