The Commissioner Of Police Anambra State Command CP Echeng Echeng has met with leaders of Political Parties in the state at his office, Command headquarters Awka to brief them on mode of operation with regards to their political campaigns.
This was contained in a press statement signed by DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, Anipr, PPRO Anambra State Police Command.
The CP stated that campaigns are a critical part of the electioneering process and asked the parties to avail the force of their campaign rally days to enable the Command provide adequate security for the safety of participants for such events.
H said that the Command shall also deploy other tactical and operational units as well as traffic control policemen to strategic points to ensure that the existing public safety and order in the state is sustained. The teams, are expected to carry out security patrols, surveillance, traffic control and patrols in conjunction with sister security agents.
He noted that this will definitely prevent criminal elements/hoodlums from taking advantage of unsuspecting party faithfuls and properly secure such events
In the same vein, the CP , admonished officers that would be deployed for the assignment to display high level of professionalism and operate within the context of the law.
He also, called on members of the public to coordinate themselves and cooperate with the police and other security agents in the course of discharging their constitutional responsibilities
