It was a turn-up of masquerades of different types on Saturday, July, 31st in Akabor, Mbaukwu as Izuchukwu Ekpeha, also known as Ozo Akutigbuo celebrated Ime Agwu, Onwa Agwu, a cultural and traditional feast that takes place in Igboland every August, annually.
Ime Agwu is also a period of celebrating the good things God and the ancestors have done for the people.
Izuchukwu described Agwu as a female deity that delivers wealth and Agwu as a spiritual being that is well controlled, will open doors of opportunities, and if not well controlled can cause one harm.
Speaking to our correspondent, Marvelous Ezenwa, Izuchukwu stated that traditionalists are not ideal worshippers nor evil but some wicked elements are among them to tarnish their image. He also said that traditionalists are chosen by the gods.
Using himself as an example, he said he was a Christian of the Catholic faith before he was chosen and answered the call of Nature
Expressing his gratitude to God for bringing him this far, he also thanked everyone who came to celebrate with him, especially Prince Emeka Anugwu of Mbaukwu.
The highlight of the event was performances and dance from masquerades from Mbaukwu and neighboring towns. Odogwu Masquerade from Awkaetiti, which is known for its dance show also graced the occasion.
