The Nigeria Customs Service has announced December 31, 2025, as the deadline for migrating from the current Fast Track Scheme to the globally recognised Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme.

According to Customs spokesperson Abdullahi Maiwada, the transition aligns with the World Customs Organisation’s SAFE Framework and Sections 108–111 of the Customs Act 2023.

The AEO Programme offers trusted traders faster customs clearance, reduced inspections, and international recognition. Only companies approved under the AEO scheme will enjoy these privileges after the deadline.

To guide stakeholders, Customs will hold a sensitisation forum for importers, exporters, and agents.

Maiwada urged eligible businesses to apply early and join efforts to modernise and secure Nigeria’s trade processes.
