The Enugu State Government has closed several schools in the state capital for operating illegally and failing to meet quality standards. Commissioner for Education Ndubueze Mbah announced the enforcement of this policy aimed at improving educational quality during a recent inspection.
Among the schools affected are Evangel School, Ivory Education Centre, and Eastview Nursery and Primary School. Mbah emphasized that registration and approval from the Ministry of Education are mandatory for all educational institutions.
The government had previously given schools a four-month grace period to comply with regulations. Mbah stated that the initiative is part of efforts to align education in Enugu with global standards, ensuring that students acquire essential 21st-century skills. The commissioner said that the closure reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing the educational landscape in the state.
