Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has assured that the country can sustain its healthcare system despite the exit of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Following US President Donald Trump’s directive to close USAID, many African nations have been left uncertain about their healthcare support.
However, Pate emphasized that Nigeria is not complaining but rather appreciates past US contributions.
He added that the government is working toward reducing dependency on external assistance and is committed to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, increasing domestic funding, and improving the local healthcare value chain.
