The Federal Government is working to mediate in the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central. Minister of Women Affairs, Iman Suleiman-Ibrahim, revealed this during a press briefing at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended for six months after alleging sexual harassment by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The Senate dismissed her petition, citing procedural grounds.
Suleiman-Ibrahim described the incident as unfortunate and emphasized the need to protect female representation in the Senate. She assured that discussions with stakeholders were ongoing to find a peaceful resolution, adding that Senate leadership has expressed willingness to engage in dialogue.
