
Report From Anambra State Police Command says yesterday, at about 5:15am, there was a fire outbreak at Nodu Market by Juhel Okpuno, Awka South Council Area.

According to the report issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, four shops were affected, destroying tailoring machines, provisions, Carpentry equipment and other valuable items.

Haruna disclosed Police operatives led by DPO B Division, Awka, CSP Sani Ahmed, quickly mobilised to the scene and cordoned off the Area to prevent looting and further catastrophe.
He said Fire Service was equally contacted, and that the fire was extinguished with the help of local sympathizers in the area.
Haruna further has it that no loss of life was recorded and no injury reported.
According to him, investigation is ongoing to ascertain extent of damage and circumstances surrounding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has reechoed his call on “Ndi Anambra” and residents alike to always apply safety precautions especially by switching off all electrical appliances in their homes, business premises and work places when not in use in order to avert similar ugly incidents which could also lead to loss of lives and injuries.
