FRSC Launches Ember Months Safety Campaign In Onitsha
Anambra State Command, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has flagged off its Ember Months Safety Campaign to ensure safety of vehicles and passengers this ember months.
The event which took place at Upper Iweka area of Onitsha, attracted security and para- military agencies in the State who work in collaboration with Road Safety Corps to ensure safety on the roads.
Declaring the Campaign open, Governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Patricia Igwebuike, commended FRSC for ensuring safety on the roads.
In an address, the Sector Commander Anambra State Command, Adeoye Irelewuyi who spoke on the theme, ”Speed Thrills but Kills, Drive Responsibly and Avoid Overloading”, thanked Governor Soludo for embarking on rehabilitation of roads in all nooks and crannies of the State.
He restated the commitment of the state Sector of FRSC towards combating road traffic crashes factors by stepping up public enlightenment in motor parks, Church advocacy programmes, print and electronic media campaigns, traffic controls among others, to ensure road traffic crashes were reduced to the barest minimum.
The State Sector Commander, appreciated efforts of the Special Marshals and other critical stakeholders, as well as their sister agencies in ensuring safer roads and better road culture in the State.
Some of the sister agencies at the event cautioned drivers on the need to abide by the rules and regulations guiding road users for their safety and that of their passengers.
They thanked the Commander for their various programmes and trainings for drivers on how to maintain safety on the road.
