Gov. Willie Obiano receives in audience Anambra Football Association’s newly inaugurated caretaker.

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano recently received in audience, the newly inaugurated Caretaker Committee for Anambra Football Association at the Governor’s Lodge, Onitsha.

Speaking on the occasion, governor Obiano who assured that the Awka Stadium will be completed in 11 months.

He also assured the new Caretaker Committee of his support to develop sports, especially football in Anambra State, emphasizing his belief that the new Awka Stadium will further deepen development of football talents in the state.

While commending the NFF and the State Sports Development Commission, the Governor announced the establishment of male and female Anambra football teams called Anambra Bombers and Anambra Babes and challenged the Committee members to invest their best to reposition football in Anambra State.

In his speech, the State Chairman of the Anambra Sports Development Commission, Chief Tony Oli, recalled that turnaround of sports in Anambra has been unprecedented in the past two years, noting that though the association has had a long journey, with the support of the Governor, they would have some relief.

Chief Oli was optimistic that football game would soon take a better shape in Anambra State.

Responding, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Anambra Football Association, Dr. Emeka Okeke, thanked the Governor for receiving them, pointing out that they have already launched the Anambra Football Campaign, to canvass for grassroot support for football advancement, assuring that they would provide updates of their activities on weekly basis.
