Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has debunked the rumor that his government hoarded the CA-COVID relief packages in Lokoga or anywhere else in the state. He said the allegations were to discredit state governors and the Federal government.
In a television interview earlier today, he revealed that all the 36 state governors each received 1 billion naira each from the Federal Government to cushion the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also said that the governors signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Bank to receive the sum of 1.1 billion naira for the same purpose.
In the interview, the governor said he refused to sign the the MOU with the World Bank.
While answering why he received the money from the Federal government, even when he didn’t believe the existence of the virus, he said that even though they didn’t have Covid-19 in Kogi state, the state’s economy was equally affected by theu pandemic and the federal government released the money to assist the states in the country.
He said that 500 million Naira has been disbursed from the World Bank but Kogi state didn’t receive any because he refused the offer, which according to him, is one sided.
