Hopeland FC Secures Victory in Igwe Orizu Diamond U-20 Football Cup Championship, Honoring the Monarch’s Legacy

It was a significant Friday in Nnewi, Anambra State, at Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium, where Hopeland FC emerged victorious in the Igwe Orizu Diamond U-20 Football Cup Championship. The team secured an 8-9 win in a penalty shootout against Rangels FC after a goalless match during regulation time.

The championship, honoring Igwe K.O.N Orizu’s 98th year of life and 60 years on the throne, embodied sportsmanship.

Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike , a prominent sports figure, highlighted the role of sports in honoring the monarch’s legacy and urged youths to embrace it for growth.

Chief Ejidike pledged to nurture young talents, envisioning their rise to stardom for the advancement of Anambra State and Nigeria.

Prince Chukwuma Ubah, FC Ifeanyi Ubah Chairman, lauded the match for showcasing young talent and coinciding with Igwe K.O.N Orizu III’s reign milestone.

Chikeluo Iloenyosi, Anambra State Football Association Chairman, thanked Chief Ejidike and acknowledged the security personnel that were on ground.

Maureen Mmadu, ex-Super Falcons player and coach, added prestige to the event, emphasizing women’s football importance.

Benjamin Isaac, SWAN President, stressed such tournaments’ role in nurturing talents and deterring social issues. He encouraged others to follow Chief Ejidike’s sports advocacy.

The event showcased youth potential in sports, reaffirming Anambra State’s legacy. Igwe K.O.N Orizu III’s presence highlighted its significance, and the call for increased sports minister’s involvement in promised growth.
