Hundreds Of Families Displaced By Flood

Floods has displaced hundreds of families in Balangu town in Kafin Hausa Local Government area of Jigawa State.
A resident of the community who witnessed the incident, said the flood was as a result of heavy downpour which led to the overflow of the stream in the town.
He explained that the water found its way into people’s houses and destroyed properties in the area.
According to the eyewitness The displaced families have moved to their relatives’s houses and other public buildings for shelter
District Head of Balangu, Ibrahim Suleiman, confirmed the incident, hinted that the flood destroyed many houses and properties worth millions of Naira.
Suleiman appealed to governments and wealthy individuals to come to the aid of the victims.
Commenting on the incident, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar sympathized with the victims, and reiterated the state government’s commitment towards providing lasting solutions to the problem.
A release issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Inclusion, Hamza Muhammad Hadejia, said state government will construct township roads and drainages to overcome the yearly occurrences of the flood.
