
Imo state government is poised to partner with the Nigerian Navy to establish a Naval Base in Oguta, Imo state.
The governor of Imo state, Senator Hope Uzodimma ,over the weekend , received a 6- man delegation from the Nigerian Navy led by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Odogwu Ezekobe. The men were on a familiarization visit to the governor on the proposed Naval Base to be situated at Osse Moto, Oguta local government area.

In his speech, Governor Uzodimma said that the recent happenings in the State have proven the need to strengthen security in the state to protect their lands and maritime boundaries and curb the criminal activities of oil numbers and unknown gunmen at Imo state . He said the events are not merely a state issue but also a National sabotage , which has necessitated the partnership. He also assured them of every commitment from the Government of Imo state.
Rear Admiral Odogwu Ezekobe , in his speech, stated that the partnership can be traced to the good relationship of the Governor of the state and chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Zubairu.
He also commented that the relationship will be sealed with the protection of lives and properties of Ndi Imo .
The Governor and the team from the Nigerian Navy inspected the facilities and the waterways at Oguta, visited the Oguta lake as well. They also paid homage to the traditional rulers of Osse Mote, Oguta LGA.
