In Ogun, Cultist Shoots Self In The Arm While Loading Gun
From Ogun State is the report that a suspected cultist, Jinai Sunday, shot himself in the arm while trying to load and remove a live cartridge from a locally-made pistol.
Ogun Amotekun Corps Commander, CP David Akinremi (rtd), in a report, said the pistol accidentally exploded, resulting in serious injuries on his left arm.
He said Sunday and other accomplices, who are “members of Aiye Cult group” were at their usual meeting in a bush located along Kakanfo village in Obada-Owode, Imeko-Afon Local Government Area of Ogun State, when the incident happened.
Akinremi informed that after the sound of a gunshot, the Amotekun Coordinator in Imeko-Afon, acting on credible intelligence, immediately swung into action and arrested the injured suspect and one Adejare Kehinde.
The Amotekun Corps Commander further revealed that during interrogation, it was found out that Adejare Kehinde was an agent who procured locally made pistols from Benin Republic for the gang.
Another member of the gang named Ogundele Elijah, (alias Ogun 07) confessed that he is an ex-convict, as he had earlier served six months sentence in Ilaro Correctional Centre for cultism, and was later arrested based on earlier confession by the first two suspects.
The Amotekun boss said, “Operatives of the Corps are on the trail of other members of the gang still at large,”
