The Nigerian government has ordered the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and top military chiefs to relocate to Sokoto State. This directive is aimed at intensifying efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism in the North-West region.

The Ministry of Defence’s Director of Information, Henshaw Ogubike, confirmed the move in a statement. He said the decision shows the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region.

While in Sokoto, the defence officials will supervise operations targeting notorious bandit leader Bello Turji and his gang. The directive follows recent incidents, including a viral video showing bandits celebrating around a stuck Nigerian military vehicle in Zamfara State.

The government expressed deep concern over these ongoing security threats and reassured residents of Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, and Kebbi states that every effort would be made to restore peace and security.
