Keke Rider Jumps, Drowns In Kogi River
A yet-to-be-identified Man allegedly jumped into a river and drowned in Lokoja, Kogi State capital city.
The incident happened at about 12:30 PM on Tuesday at Meme Bridge few metres away from the Dunamis Church headquarters in Lokoja.
The deceased, a tricycle rider, was said to have arrived at the bridge, parked his tricycle, and jumped into the river.
A witness who craved anonymity said he was shocked seeing the man jumping from top of the bridge into the river.
He said the economic hardship biting Nigerians may be one of the reasons for him to take his life.
“There is nothing anybody could do when the Keke Man jumped into the river. When he jumped, we saw a snake and there was nothing anyone could do at that moment”, he lamented. The corpse is yet to be recovered at the time of filing this report.
The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident, saying his men have been mobilized to recover the body.
