The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has said that Nigeria has one of the most vibrant and free presses in the world and the present administration was not about to stifle press freedom or deny anyone their constitutionally guaranteed rights. He made this known when the delegation from the International Press Institute visited him in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said that contrary to the beliefs of people that the government wants to gag the press, the government only wants to sanitize the social media and Nigerian media should not fear the government. He said that the government is actually at the mercy of the media.
