Man, 29 Sentenced To Death By Hanging For Stabbing Stepmother To Death
A Kano State High Court has sentenced a 29-year-old man, Sagiru Abdullahi, to death by hanging for stabbing his 55-year-old stepmother, Zainab Dan’Azumi, to death.
The court convicted Abdullahi on Thursday, on one count of culpable homicide.
Justice Aisha Mahmoud held that the prosecution proved the case beyond reasonable doubt and sentenced the man to death.
The prosecution counsel, Mr Tijjani Ibrahim, earlier told the court that Abdullahi committed the offence in June 2014, at Kurmawa Quarters, Kano.
He said the convict dealt several machete cuts on the victim’s head, leading to her death.
The victim was reportedly rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Kano, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor.
