The 15th edition of the Headies awards would hold on July 2 in Atlanta, U.S.A.
On Tuesday 1st March 2022, the organisers disclosed this at a ‘Big Announcement’ ceremony held at the Eko Hotels in Lagos.
The “Join the Movement” award-themed would hold at Atlanta’s Cobbs Energy Performing Arts Centre.
They also announced the introduction of new categories, including talent managers and Africa Award, grand showcase of African fashion, and the Headies conference and music festival.
However, many Nigerians are still alarmed at the decision to take the only indigenous music awards festival away from Nigeria.
Pheelz, one of the acts behind ‘Finesse,’ has announced that their song had reached No. 1 in Lagos, London and Accra, on the Apple Music charts.
Before the song dropped, it generated eager anticipation, as it garnered over 19 million views on TikTok. This led to what is now called #FolakeChallenge on TikTok.
