The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has launched a major enforcement operation at Ogbo-Ogu Market, Bridge Head, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Led by the South East Zonal Director, Dr. Martins Iluyomade, the agency seized large quantities of adulterated, substandard, and expired drugs from various shops. Speaking to journalists, Iluyomade said the exercise aligns with NAFDAC’s mission to eliminate fake and banned products, protecting the public from harmful substances.
He revealed that investigations uncovered illegal repackaging of counterfeit drugs, posing serious health risks. The raid, conducted in collaboration with the market task force, is part of a coordinated effort across the South-East.
NAFDAC urges the public to buy only from licensed pharmacies, as enforcement continues to ensure drug safety.
