NAWOJ Anambra Commends Women Affairs Commissioner For Rescuing Child-Mother
The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Anambra State, has commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Ify Obinabo, over the swift rescue of a thirteen year old mother who was seen in a viral video clutching a baby that was said to be hers.
The State NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Franklyn Onyekachi, in a Press Release, said the Commissioner has continued to protect and give succour to the vulnerable and less privileged especially women and girls.
She wondered what would have been the fate of the 13 year old mother if the Ministry had not come to her rescue, saying that Anambra NAWOJ is proud of her.
Anambra NAWOJ also lent its voice to the call that the man who impregnated the child should be brought to justice.
She noted that according to the Child mother, she was impregnated by one Mr Sunday (her Guardian).
Onyekachi described it as disgusting and abominable that the 75 year old man and father of many children, would defile such a small girl, and put her in the family way and later abandoned her.
NAWOJ Anambra therefore, called for his arrest and prosecution so as to serve as deterrent to others who molest and abuse children.
