NDLEA To Partner FRSC In Fight Against Drugs, Narcotics In Anambra
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has expressed desire to collaborate with Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC to end the menace of drugs and Narcotics in Anambra State.
The new State Commander, NDLEA Anambra State Commander of Narcotics Onyishi Daniel, made this known during a familiarization visit to Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi.
The State NDLEA Commander told the FRSC Sector Commander that his visit was to familiarize with FRSC following his appointment as the State NDLEA Commander, and to seek ways of
collaboration to fight drugs and Narcotics in the State.
He noted that whenever his Agency sought assistance from FRSC, it had always been granted.
Welcoming the NDLEA Commander and his entourage to his office, the FRSC Sector Commander Irelewuyi, described the visit as a sign of cordial working relationship with the Corps, and expressed hope that the synergy would be maintained.
He briefed his guests on FRSC duties and responsibilities; which include reducing Road Traffic crashes on Nigeria roads, Public Enlightenment, enforcement, research, stakeholders collaboration, Drivers license through which the Corps mandate is achieved as well as traffic management.
He further spoke on how the Command had helped in apprehending human traffickers while discharging operational duties, and assured him of the Command’s further support.
Irelewuyi emphasised areas of collaboration between the two Agencies and appealed for assistance in testing drivers using drugs.
According to him, the Corps already has test kit for motorists driving under the influence of alcohol but not drugs.
