Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, announced at the Africa CEO Forum Annual Summit in Kigali on Friday that his refinery will eliminate Nigeria’s need to import petrol by June.
The Dangote Refinery is already supplying diesel and aviation fuel in Nigeria and aims to meet the energy needs of West Africa and beyond.
He said that Dangote plans to make Africa self-sufficient in fertilizer production within four years, reducing the continent’s reliance on imports for potash, phosphate, and urea.
Dangote also stated that the refinery’s capacity will not only cater to Nigeria but also supply fuel to West Africa, Central Africa, and South Africa, contributing to job creation and economic growth across the region.
He said that their polypropylene and polyethene will meet the entire demand of Africa and they are doing base oil, which is like engine oil.
He said that in three or a maximum of four years, Africa will , not import any more fertiliser from anywhere.
