Following the recent improvement by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN in ensuring that more money is pumped into the system and lifting the withdrawal limits, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has extended their ultimatum for an additional two weeks .
Recall that the NLC , under the leadership of Comrade Joe Ajaero , last week announced that workers across the country would go on strike and picket Central Bank of Nigeria branches today.
However, following CBN’s improvement in making naira available and intervention by critical stakeholders, the NLC on Tuesday evening, after an Executive meeting extended the ultimatum.
The NLC chairman admitted that there has been considerable improvement in the availability of naira but stated that they will still monitor the compliance of cash disbursement through the commercial banks for two more weeks .
Also speaking on the matter, the President of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Festus Osifo said that the CBN needs to restore the confidence that people lost in them as soon as possible
