One Killed As Gunmen Attack Imo Community
Gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday burnt the country home of the Imo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo.
The attackers also burnt the country home of a former Dean of Law Faculty, Imo State University, Owerri, Nnamdi Obiaraeri, who served as Commissioner for Information, Youth and Sports, under former governors Ikedi Ohaki
and also Commissioner for Land and Urban Planning, during the administration of Rochas Okorocha.
The country home of a retired Director of Department of Security Service, Emeka Ngwu, was also burnt.
It was gathered that an old woman lost her life when Ngwu’s house was attacked.
According to the report, two houses belonging to two other prominent sons of the area whose identities are yet to be ascertained were also burnt.
The incident happened at Amagu Ihube community in the Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo state.
When contacted, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Emeka Okoronkwo, confirmed the burning of his house,
Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, also confirmed the attack, adding that investigation had begun with the view of arresting the perpetrators..
Ihube has recently become the hotbed of criminal activities with the country homes of the House of Reps Labour candidate for Okigwe LGA, Nnaemeka Obiaraeri and that of his campaign Director General Okey Unam burnt.
Other houses and properties of people in the community have been burnt in the recent past by gunmen operating in the area.
