A former minister of aviation, Osita Chidoka, has asked President Bola Tinubu to implement removal of bank charges and reduction in the contributions to pension schemes.

Chidoka made this call while speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Sunday.

According to him, the moves will serve as palliative to the sufferings of Nigerians over the removal of petrol subsidy.

Recall that, on May 29, Tinubu had announced an end to the payment of petrol subsidy by the federal government.

Since the announcement, the price of petrol has increased to around N500 per litre.

But, the former minister faulted the sudden removal of the petrol subsidy, saying the federal government was not quick to think about ways to ameliorate the impact of the policy on Nigerians.
