Mothers have been charged to ensure that their children acquire good education for a better and brighter future.
Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Ebelechukwu Obiano, who gave the charge in her message to mark this year’s Children’s Day, said mothers should show more interest in the education of their children to enable them excel.
Mrs. Obiano observed that this year’s theme for the Children’s Day celebration: “Promoting Girl Child Education for Sustainable Development”, was very apt and timely, especially with the challenges posed by Covid-19 which she noted, requires sustained effort by all to overcome.
The Governor’s wife whose message was delivered by the Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Emeka Ozumba, regretted that Coronavirus has drastically altered people’s way of life as well as the education of the children, such as from physical presence in class rooms to remote learning at home with new challenges, and requiring careful guidance of the children on how they learn and what they do.
According to Mrs. Obiano, mothers are uniquely positioned to help the children to achieve their full potentials despite those challenges of distant learning.
She reminded parents that they have an obligation to bridge the gap between the children’s conventional physical presence in schools and the nuances of e-learning at home.
Mrs Obiano wished the children happy 2020 Children’s Day celebrations, urging them to be disciplined by obeying all Covid-19 protocols like social distancing, regular washing of hands, using hand sanitizers and wearing of facemasks in public.
