The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced the official commencement of operations at the Port Harcourt Refinery. Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, described the event as a historic milestone, signaling a new chapter of energy independence and economic growth for Nigeria.
This refinery, originally built in 1965 and recently refurbished, now contributes to the country’s expanding refining capacity, alongside eight other operational refineries, including the Dangote Refinery and the Edo Refinery.
NNPCL commended President Bola Tinubu and NNPCL leadership for their dedication to reshaping Nigeria’s energy future. The refinery’s operations are expected to boost local fuel production and reduce dependency on imports, reinforcing Nigeria’s position in the global energy landscape.
