Santa Maria Curia Celebrates 25 years In Grand Style

The Sancta Maria Senior Curia, Legion of Mary Pious Society, St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Awka, celebrated its 25 years anniversary with a Holy Mass and other religious activities.
Established in 1999, the Curia has thoroughly toiled to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ through its spiritual works leveraging on the intercession of Mary the Mother of God.
In an address presentation, the President of the Curia, Sister Theresa Mary Agha, described the group as a noiseless society that collaborates with the Church in the fight to win souls for Jesus Christ.
According to Sister Agha, the major work of the society is to assist Priests, the religious etc in the general apostalate of the Catholic Church in teaching catechism, helping the aged, preaching to pagans and other spiritual works.
She used the forum to call on Nigerians to seek the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary in tackling the problems confronting the country.
The Assistant Cathedral Administrator of St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Awka, Rev. Fr. Mark Ike, in a remark, encouraged the legionaries to remain dedicated to their cause of spiritual works of mercy and evangelization.
The Prelate congratulated the group on their attainment of 25 years of fruitful works and prayed for their resilience in spreading the gospel.
The Chairman on the occasion, Brother Fortunatus Oru, in a message, congratulated the society for doing so well in promoting the gospel through Mary and urged them not to relent.
High points of the event were presentation of Awards of Excellence to Sister. Theresa Agha, the Chairman, planning committee of the anniversary, Brother Hyacinth Mary Igwebuike, Brother Felix Okeke, the Vice President, Awka Regia, Sister June Mary Mmeka, of the Seat of Wisdom Praesidium, St. Patrick’s Cathedral Parish, Awka, among others and the cutting of the anniversary cake.
