Senator Ali Ndume has expressed deep concern over the pervasive corruption in Nigeria, calling it a major challenge for the nation.
During an interactive session with journalists in Kano, Ndume stated that if someone in politics is not corrupt, they are merely lucky to be God-fearing. He lamented the lack of laws to address corruption proactively or reactively, emphasizing that individuals who flaunt ill-gotten wealth are often celebrated rather than questioned.
Ndume also highlighted the pressing issue of hunger in Nigeria, urging for increased cultivation of food crops to combat food insecurity. He pointed out that only a small fraction of arable land is currently being utilized and called for efforts to harness the nation’s agricultural potential.
The senator’s remarks shows the urgent need for legislative action and societal change to tackle corruption and improve food production in Nigeria.
