State Assembly to partner AIG of Police to further secure Anambra

The Assistant Inspector-General (AIG), Police, Zone-13 Command Headquarters, Mr Danmallam Mohammed has solicited the support of the Anambra State House of Assembly to ensure effective community policing in the state.
Mohammed made the appeal when he and Mr Austin Oguejiofor, Managing Director of ROTECH Energy Services, visited the Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor at the Assembly complex in Awka recently.

The AIG said that community policing had come to stay, and urged all relevant stakeholders to continue to assist the police in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities effectively as
The job of security is everybody’s business and the legislators as the representatives of the people have a role to play via effective lawmaking to help us to improve and sustain the security of the state.

He assured that Under his watch, there will be no illegal arrests and detention, torture, extra judicial killings and criminal extortion of the public as he believes in constitutionalism, due process, justice and fair play.

He concluded by urging members of the public to support the police by providing useful information about any suspicious movements of persons or objects or any matter connected to crime within their environment.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor commended the Police and other security agencies for their efforts at making the state safe for residents and promised that the Assembly would give the Zone all the necessary legislative support to improve on security in the state.

Mr Oguejiofor, a Promoter of Anambra State’s Luxury Place Estate, at Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi LGA, who accompanied the AIG, commended the lawmakers for ensuring good governance in the state through effective legislation.
He further announced plans for the planned 500-Units Housing Estate at Nkwelle, Oyi LGA. While noting that the Estate is in collaboration with the state government who’s main focus is to ensure the provision of affordable housing for residents and reduce problems of housing deficit in the state.

The member representing Dunukofia constituency, Mr Lawrence Ezeudu commended the AIG for the security network he had constituted on resuming office.
While assuring him that the State Assembly will partner with him to fight crime in the State through passage of laws and resolutions to that effect.
