Nigeria can boost its revenue without increasing taxes. This is according to Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.
Speaking on a recent television interview, Oyedele emphasized that the current tax system is ineffective and proposed using data, intelligence, and technology to close the tax gap.
He suggested reducing the number of taxes, making them broad-based and easier to collect.
Oyedele also highlighted the need for tax exemptions for vulnerable groups, including micro-businesses and low-income earners, to avoid placing undue burdens on them.
