The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has suspended its planned nationwide protest against the 50% increase in telecom tariffs after meeting with the Federal Government on Monday.
The meeting, led by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, resulted in the formation of a 10-member committee to review the tariff hike. The committee, comprising five representatives from the government and five from the NLC, is expected to submit its report within two weeks.
NLC President Joe Ajaero said the union will await the committee’s findings before deciding on its next course of action.
