The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has begun an investigation into Tuesday’s crash, which involved a light single airplane in the Ikeja area of Lagos State.
The accident involved a Jabiru J430, a light single airplane with Nationality and Registration Marks 5N-CCQ operated by Air First Hospitality & Tours, which occurred around a little after 3 o’clock on Tuesday, 1st August, 2023.
According to report, the aircraft was on a test flight within Lagos with two passengers onboard before it crashed around Oba Akran area of Lagos State with no fatalities.
Tunji Oketunbi, the Spokesman for the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), confirmed the incident on Tuesday afternoon.
Also an official from Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported that the aircraft caught fire during the crash.
All four individuals on board, including the pilot, were rescued alive and taken to a nearby hospital.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has also confirmed the accident. Ibrahim Farinloye, NEMA Zonal Coordinator for South-West, mentioned on the agency’s official WhatsApp platform that the operator’s identity is still unknown, but everyone on board was successfully rescued.
NSIB, which is the agency responsible for probing transportation accidents and serious incidents in Nigeria, is therefore seeking, information from the general public in the form of pictures, video or recording evidence to assist in conducting a comprehensive investigation.
