Today is International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.

It is also known as ‘World Drug Day’ and is celebrated on the 26th of June every year.
It is a day set aside by the United Nations to draw attention to issues concerning drug abuse and trafficking with the attendant consequences to society.
The theme for this year’s World Drug Day is “Better Knowledge for Better Care.”
The field of addressing the drug problem has been ‘plagued’ by misinformation of many kinds. Therefore, this year’s theme aims at improving the understanding of the world drug problem and at fostering greater international cooperation for countering its impact on health, governance and security.
UNODC encourages individuals, non-profit organizations, the private sector and Member States to get involved in its social media campaign to mark this day and invites them to draw on the resources provided in the social media campaign package.
