University Don Stresses Need For Proper Upbringing Of Children

A lecturer at the Department of Management Strategy and Policy of the Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka campus, Dr. John Okechukwu, has advocated tripartite partnership of government, teachers and parents in the upbringing of children.
Dr. Okechukwu who stated this in Awka, espresso deep worry at the disturbing moral decadence among youths in the Nigerian society.
He therefore , reckoned that a synergy among the strategic stakeholders in the formative years of children will go a long way to assuage their overbearing exuberance.
The university don regretted that the youths have gone haywire because parents, government and teachers have largely shirked their responsibilities to the future leaders.
Dr. Okechukwu who also doubles as the Secretary of the Holy Trinity Zone of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Awka and a member of the Catholic Men Organization of the Cathedral Parish, suggested the enforcement of discipline to curb youth decadence.
He strongly believes that catching them.young and strict monitoring can check the growing trend of prostitution, cultism, indecent dressing and other juvenile and adolescent antics.
On Anambra state at 32, Dr. Okechukwu admitted that the state is moving forward but not as expected.
According to the university don, the state scored a passmark in the education sector which needs to be rejigged for more excellence.
He suggested that sectors such as health and Agriculture should be revitalized to enhance the socio- economic viability of the state.
On infrastructure where he scored the state low, the Lecturer called for more committed efforts towards improving infrastructures as well as basic amenities.
