Simon Lalong, governor of Plateau state, has tasked religious leaders to use their platforms, to tell the truth to people in power and proffer solutions to the country’s problems.
The governor, who made the call on Sunday during a mass in honour of David Ajang, the Bishop-elect of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia, used the opportunity to call on the religious leaders to continue to uphold both the leadership and fellowship in prayers and also give them spiritual guidance in these troubled times.
He said that they stand in a position to tell truth to those in power and also proffer solutions to the problems of the nation. He noted that building Nigeria is a task that all of us must be involved.
Lalong said in spite of corruption and security challenges bedevilling the country, spiritual leaders are critical to ensure the country returns to the path of peace and development.
The governor said that all must be done to preserve the nation and said that rather than beating the drums of war and professing doom, the citizens have to pause and think about the consequences of a broken nation.
