YSFON Partners With Innocent Egbunike To Discover More Athletes In Anambra

The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) Anambra State has gone into partnership with Nigeria’s Sprint legend, former African Sprint Champion and Olympic Medalist, Innocent Ejima Egbunike as its Ambassador.

This partnership was effected recently after series of meetings, consultations and discussions about the short term, medium and long terms plans/visions of YSFON, Anambra State.

The partnership is aimed at using the global influence of Innocent Egbunike to discover more athletes that will do the state and the nation proud.

The heartwarming partnership will also birth a talent breeding INNOCENT EGBUNIKE YSFON ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP which will soon start.

According to Innocent Egbunike, he was impressed with the vision of YSFON Anambra State as presented by its Chairman and his friend, Engr Akonam Obiefuna. He said he can work with them to help discover and develop talents in athletics in Anambra state and Nigeria.

The INNOCENT EGBUNIKE YSFON ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP which will kick off in October, will be the first step towards meeting the target of YSFON and Innocent Egbunike’s package tagged NEXT EGBUNIKES IN 5YEARS.

According to Egbunike’s Consultants, Yusuf Ali and Olukayode Thomas, they shall use this year’s championship to test run the big vision ahead of them as stated in the YSFON Anambra State’s vision of Feeding the State and the Nation with Abundant Talents. They shall also use this project to realise this and hoping to surpass their projection.

The championship is proposed to take place in November, this year, at Rojenny Stadium Oba.
The event will feature 100m, 200m, 400m and 4x100m for both Male and Female. Prizes and Certicates will be awarded to the eventual winners at the end of the 2-day championship.

It will also be an Under 20 Open Championship and mode of registration will be made available to the public soon.

Recall that YSFON promised to have what it calls ‘Heroes Welcome’, a gradual programme of bringing back as many Sports Heroes as possible from Anambra state to help bring back the glory days of sports in the state.
