The Enugu State Police Command has launched an investigation into the suspected murder of Stephen Aniago, Chairman of the Ogbete Main Market Traders Association. Aniago was shot and killed by unidentified assailants on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
In a statement released on Sunday, Daniel Ndukwe, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, explained that Aniago was ambushed along Amechi Road by armed attackers, who shot him and fled with his car. Police responded to the incident, transporting Aniago to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ndukwe further revealed that the suspects, driving a Toyota Corolla, intercepted Aniago and stole his blue Toyota Corolla after the shooting. The victim’s body has been moved to a mortuary as the investigation continues.
The Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the deployment of tactical teams to track down the assailants, assuring the public that all efforts will be made to apprehend those responsible. Additionally, the State CID
